400 years of history, 17 weeks of construction
With the IMLAUER Palais Mirabell, formerly Hotel am Mirabellplatz, the IMLAUER Group has succeeded in bringing an important piece of Salzburg’s urban history back to life. Following extensive and carefully executed renovation work, the historic building now presents itself in renewed splendour. The palais on Mirabellplatz was originally built for the second-born son of Archbishop Paris Lodron. It has been part of the IMLAUER Group since 2019. At the beginning of 2026, large parts of the almost 400-year-old building were comprehensively renovated and modernised.
The result is a harmonious interplay of history and the present. Historic vaulted ceilings, an original column and marble staircases are combined with warm wooden elements, fine materials and modern design. Throughout the renovation, the character of the building was carefully preserved.
After a total construction period of 17 weeks, the project was fully handed over to the client. During this time, 30 completely redesigned hotel rooms were created, along with a new restaurant and buffet area, a new commercial kitchen including cold rooms, new plant rooms and modernised staff areas with changing rooms and sanitary facilities.
Regional companies, energy-efficient technology
When awarding the contracts, the client deliberately relied on skilled companies from the region and placed strong emphasis on sustainable measures: energy-efficient technology, resource-saving materials and optimised processes.
We are therefore all the more pleased that, for this project too, our partner Lohberger GmbH chose products from IDEAL AKE.
